Scrum for Team System

Microsoft’s forthcoming Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) and Team Foundation Server (TFS) will provide an integrated set of tools that are methodology aware, for the whole project team. At Conchango we have taken our learning and experiences of implementing enterprise projects using Scrum and developed Scrum for Team System, designed to optimise VSTS for those project teams working within a Scrum process.

Together, Visual Studio 2005 Team System and Scrum for Team System provide benefits that include:

  • Removal of the impedance mismatch between methodology and tools, providing an improved team dynamic and increased efficiency.
  • Reduced effort required, capturing an increased richness of the empirical information used to steer Scrum projects.
  • Support for the engineering practices on which Agile projects depend.
  • Supportive environment for team members who are less experienced with Scrum processes.

Scrum for Team System is currently in beta stage and will be released officially to coincide with the Visual Studio Team System release, scheduled for Q1, 2006.

The aim of the beta programme is two fold, firstly it allows the early adopters of Visual Studio 2005 Team System to better support the Scrum methodology, and secondly it will provide feedback that will ensure the released version hits the mark.
